Feeder set for bream - necessary elements

Bream can be successfully caught using a classic feeder or method. In any situation, you need to start by completing the basic equipment. All the accessories recommended in this article can be found in our online store.

Basket

Breams like food that lies still. So a good choice will be a side bait basket of up to 30 grams. The bait will release exactly when you pull up the set. For example, we recommend the Matrix Standard Wire Cage 30 grams.

Line and leader

For a groundbait set for bream, a line of 0.15-0.20 mm will work. While the leader should always be thinner than the main line used. This way, if you hook the set on the bottom, you will then break only the leader with the hook, and not the whole thing. So, most often it is better to make a leader of 0.16-0.18 mm monofilament.

The length of the leader for bream from the ground is a maximum of 0.5 m. A short leader of 15-20 cm will be optimal, as this reduces the risk of entanglement or twisting. What's more, with a short leader you will notice a bite faster.

Regularly check the condition of the leader. If you neglect this, this important part of the set could wear out, and a big fish could easily break it off.

What kind of hook for bream?

When it comes to hook size, the smaller the number on the marking, the larger the hook. For bream, it is unlikely to be worth choosing hooks of size 10 and larger. On the other hand, a hook that is too small increases the risk of frequent extraction of small fish.

Experienced anglers recommend that you take hooks of size 6 and 8 for bream. Match the size of the hook to the size of the bait. The tip of the hook should protrude beyond it. To spread the bait comfortably, choose one with a long shank.

In addition, choose a color that matches the lure; the fish will not notice it. Silver and gold hooks turn out to be the best.

In our store you will find many hooks that are ideal for bream hunting. For example, the Drennan Wide Gape Specialist 6 and Kamasan B911 X-Strong Eyed Barbless 8 hooks are worth recommending.

What rod and reel will be suitable?

Now let's move on to the more expensive elements of the set. Keep in mind that bream will not fight too hard after a strike. In addition, this is a fish that floats to the surface quite quickly. Therefore, you do not need "indestructible" equipment.

Rod for bream

During a bream snare, the rod will not carry great loads. Therefore, you do not need to choose an excessively thick rod. A casting weight of up to 100 grams is enough.

As for the length, a rod of 3.6-3.9 meters usually works well for fishing from the shore, and this is a fairly universal size. Using it, you will be able to cast to the baited area every time.

If you are looking for good equipment for bream, check out the Browning Argon 2.0 Feeder 3.60m MH 30-90g rod available in our store. This model will certainly appeal to you!

Reel for bream

Think about choosing a carp reel. This equipment is designed for fishing from the ground, and it is very durable. The investment in a more expensive and stronger reel will pay off in the future. As you gain experience, you will hunt bigger and bigger specimens, so you will use the potential of a better reel.

A reel with a wide spool that will allow you to wind up to 300 meters of line will come in handy. This will allow you to cast your ground tackle far for bream. You will especially appreciate this on large fisheries, such as lakes. A reel like the Tubertini ASPECT 5500 will help you catch sizable bream, and at the same time protect your line from breaking.
