Pellet Waggler – a way to fish successfully on summer days

On extremely hot days, when the water is already very warm, carp rise from the bottom and swim in the depths, just below the surface of the water. In such a situation, the Pellet Waggler technique works perfectly. What is its phenomenon?

Pellet Waggler – what is this method?

The Pellet Waggler method was developed by the English. It was created to facilitate quick and effective catching of carp in commercial fisheries, when they do not react to the lure that is on the bottom, in the feeder.

Pellet Waggler consists in fishing with a match rod armed with a float with a characteristic design, which means that it does not scare fish away when it falls into the water.

  • Match rods are match rods, i.e. those that are used to catch fish from distant places. Thanks to them, the angler does not have to go boating deep into the river or lake, because he can comfortably fish from the shore over long distances.

  • Floats for Pellet Waggler are short and thick. Their unique design means that when they fall into the water, they make a characteristic sound, which is very similar to the sound of pellets falling into the water. The characteristic splash attracts fish, which quickly enter the fishery and almost immediately swallow the slow-falling lure.

The Pellet Waggler technique is designed to outsmart the carp and take advantage of its habituation to certain behaviors. The idea is to get the fish used to feeding in one place. This effect can be achieved by regularly serving pellet grains from a special slingshot. Thanks to it, it is possible to obtain a characteristic splash. After some time, the carp will start to react to the very sound of pellets falling into the water, and then your fishing will be much more successful.

How to choose equipment for Pellet Waggler?

In the Pellet Waggler method, it is very important to choose the equipment skillfully. What will you need while fishing? These are primarily:

  • Floats for Pellet Waggler, which can have different weights and do not require the use of weight. The smaller the pellet, the smaller the float is worth choosing. The most commonly used models are 6, 8 or 10 grams, transparent or come in natural colors.

  • Optionally, you can also use a bagging waggler for pellet fishing with an additional feeder on the body, which is covered with groundbait.

  • Feeder line or floating line. The thicker the line, the slower the pellets will fall, which increases the time it takes for the fish to catch the bait.

  • Pellet shooting slingshot that provides a secure grip and repeatability of movements.

  • Durable waggler rod – characterized by soft action. It can be a match rod or a float rod.

  • A reel that can withstand significant overloads.

  • Leaders and hooks, a long leader works well in this technique, thanks to which the lure falls longer, and a barbless hook that does not hurt the fish.

  • Safety pins for mounting floats and stoppers for locking the set.

The set is very easy to install, and the method itself is extremely intuitive, so it quickly brings the desired results. The basis for successful fishing is a well-thought-out selection of a place where the fish can stay, locating the right distance and depth, and skillfully carrying out feeding.

Pellet baiting – basic rules

Properly conducted baiting should encourage the fish to look for food in a specific place. Therefore, this task cannot be carried out in any way. The key to success will be proper preparation. You will need a large amount of pellets to shoot the hunting ground with a slingshot for several hours.

A safe amount of pellets that you should take with you is about 1 kilogram. It can be varied and have a size of 6, 8 and 10 mm. Different types of pellets allow you to check what type of food the carp reacts to.

Getting fish used to feeding in a given place must be done wisely. You can't shoot pellets blindly or load very large amounts of food at once. A much better strategy will be to regularly give small amounts of grains to stimulate appetite and encourage fish to be more active.

You will get the best results if you cast your rod right after shooting the pellets. To do this, make sure that the finished rod is within your reach. It is recommended to use a maximum of 2-3 pellets at a time. This is enough to interest the fish and stimulate their appetite for more.
